The Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Progressive Care / Stepdown is responsible for providing specialized care to pediatric patients from various hospital units, including OR, ER, and ICU.
This role involves managing patients across a wide range of acuity levels, administering treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal care.
The nurse will also mentor and supervise less experienced staff to maintain high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive patient care for up to four pediatric patients, including those from OR, ER, and ICU, handling cases from low to high acuity.
Perform patient assessments, intravenous therapy, complex wound care, and monitor various drainage devices.
Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team daily to achieve the highest standard of patient care.
Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with physicians, leveraging knowledge of patient care.
Serve as a mentor and team builder for less experienced licensed and unlicensed staff.
Administer medications and document all procedures accurately using E-Mar.
Document patient care plans, including nursing diagnoses, expected outcomes, and interventions.
Assess and monitor physiologic and psychosocial changes in patient conditions.
Supervise patient care assistants.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a cardiovascular progressive care or similar high-acuity environment.
