The Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit provides direct patient care to individuals with a variety of medical conditions and cardiac issues. This role requires strong clinical skills to monitor and manage patients in a telemetry setting, ensuring their safety and well-being through assessments, interventions, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and compassionate patient care to individuals in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, monitoring vitals and cardiac rhythms.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop care plans based on clinical findings.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, while closely monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
Interpret telemetry and arrhythmia readings, taking appropriate actions as needed.
Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, procedures, and health management.
Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
Respond to emergency situations, providing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and other interventions as required.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and progress.
Promote patient safety and infection control within the unit.
Participate in unit-based initiatives for quality improvement and professional development.
Serve as a resource and mentor for new staff and nursing students.
Required Qualifications:
1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
License, Certification, Registration:
Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Basic arrhythmia recognition skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
Certifications (if any):
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Additional specialized certifications (e.g., CCRN) are a plus.
