Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit provides direct patient care to individuals with a variety of medical conditions and cardiac issues. This role requires strong clinical skills to monitor and manage patients in a telemetry setting, ensuring their safety and well-being through assessments, interventions, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct and compassionate patient care to individuals in the Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, monitoring vitals and cardiac rhythms.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop care plans based on clinical findings.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, while closely monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
  • Interpret telemetry and arrhythmia readings, taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, procedures, and health management.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and other interventions as required.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and progress.
  • Promote patient safety and infection control within the unit.
  • Participate in unit-based initiatives for quality improvement and professional development.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for new staff and nursing students.

Required Qualifications:
  • 1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic arrhythmia recognition skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.

Certifications (if any):
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Additional specialized certifications (e.g., CCRN) are a plus.
