The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical unit provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. The Medical-Surgical RN ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and patient safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results.
Identify patient care needs and prioritize interventions based on clinical judgment and patient condition.
Care Planning & Implementation:
Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, ensuring that all aspects of patient care are addressed.
Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care as needed.
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and recovery processes.
Patient Monitoring & Evaluation:
Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, lab results, and overall condition, promptly responding to changes in patient status.
Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
Communicate with patients and families about care, expected outcomes, and the treatment plan.
Patient Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control, safety standards, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Previous experience in a Medical-Surgical setting preferred.
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN or higher degree in nursing.
Experience in acute care or med-surg nursing.
Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing (CMSRN) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift patients or equipment as needed.
Ability to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary.
Physical stamina to perform duties in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, infectious diseases, and medical equipment.
Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
