Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide exceptional patient care and support throughout the rehabilitation process. This role is integral in implementing treatment plans and assisting patients in achieving their physical therapy goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist licensed physical therapists with evaluating patient conditions, developing treatment plans, and tracking progress.
• Implement therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities as outlined in treatment plans.
• Observe and document patients' responses to treatments, noting progress and adjusting under the guidance of the supervising physical therapist.
• Help patients with mobility exercises, transfers, and gait training to enhance motor function and overall physical well-being.
• Educate patients and their families on exercise techniques and activities to be practiced in the clinic and at home.
• Administer modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as directed by the physical therapist.
• Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment, ensuring proper functioning of all equipment.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patient treatments, plans, and progress reports in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with the physical therapy team to discuss patient progress, treatment adjustments, and address challenges.
• Stay current on trends and developments in physical therapy to continuously improve professional skills.
Required Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or related field from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
