Job Description:
The Occupational Therapist will conduct comprehensive physical and psychological assessments of clients to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. This role includes assessing client environments, recommending adaptive equipment, and creating physical rehabilitation programs to enhance daily functioning. The therapist will educate caregivers, evaluate the progress of interventions, and ensure compliance with certification requirements while maintaining professional knowledge of advancements in therapy practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive physical and psychological assessments to create individualized treatment plans.
• Assess clients' home and work environments to recommend adjustments for optimal functioning.
• Provide advice on adaptive equipment to enhance daily activities.
• Develop physical rehabilitation programs to assist clients in regaining lost skills.
• Prepare clients for a successful return to work through tailored strategies.
• Educate caregivers and family members on effective patient care methods.
• Evaluate the outcomes of occupational therapy interventions and adjust plans as necessary.
• Stay updated on technical advancements to provide optimal treatment programs.
• Comply with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
• Assess patient conditions related to both physical and basic mental health.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program by ACOTE or AOTA.
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Compliance with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with clients of diverse personalities and needs.
• Proficiency in computer use for client care and documentation tasks.
• Strong ability to assess patient conditions and collaborate on effective treatment plans.
