We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The CVICU RN will provide critical care for pediatric patients with life-threatening cardiovascular conditions, requiring advanced organ support and invasive monitoring. The role demands a high level of clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and the ability to provide comprehensive care to the highest-acuity pediatric patients, including those recovering from surgery or managing chronic illness.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide advanced cardiovascular care to pediatric patients with life-threatening conditions, including post-surgery recovery, trauma, and complex cardiovascular disease management.
Monitor vital signs, laboratory data, and physiological indicators to assess patient conditions and determine the need for intervention.
Administer medications and therapies as per prescribed treatment plans, ensuring appropriate dosing and monitoring of side effects.
Operate advanced cardiovascular devices, including Impella, IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), and CVVH (Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration), and ensure safe and effective operation.
Collaborate with pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, and other medical team members to provide holistic, patient-centered care.
Provide support and education to patients’ families, answering questions and providing comfort during difficult times.
Ensure the safety and sterility of the care environment, strictly adhering to infection control protocols and safety procedures.
Document patient care accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record system.
Respond quickly to changes in a patient's condition, implementing appropriate interventions in high-pressure situations.
Participate in continuous learning and professional development to stay current on the latest advancements in pediatric critical care.
Required Qualifications:
Active RN License in State
BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience, preferably in pediatric or cardiovascular care.
Competence in operating and managing devices such as Impella, IABP, and CVVH.
Proficiency in using EPIC or other computer-based charting systems.
Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pediatric ICU (CVICU) or Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience preferred.
Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Nursing (CCRN-P) or Cardiovascular Nursing (CVRN).
Experience with advanced cardiac devices like Impella, IABP, and CVVH.
License/Certification Requirements:
BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
1 year of ICU experience (preferably in pediatric or cardiovascular care).
Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
