Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Associate to join our Emergency Department team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and efficient patient registration within the Emergency Department and Admission Areas. The associate will be responsible for verifying patient information, maintaining the integrity of medical records, and supporting revenue collection processes to facilitate timely reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform computerized patient registration within the Emergency Department and Admission Areas.
  • Collect and verify all required demographic, insurance, and medical information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure the integrity of medical records by accurately documenting patient data in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate billing by verifying insurance details and ensuring proper documentation for reimbursement.
  • Assist patients and families with registration processes, providing exceptional customer service in high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient flow and operational efficiency.
  • Handle sensitive patient information with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Manage revenue collections and ensure proper documentation for financial transactions.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an Emergency Department Registrar with Admissions experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent data entry and verification skills.
  • Proficiency in computerized systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with hospital or healthcare billing systems and insurance verification processes.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex situations calmly and professionally.

Certifications:
  • Certification in healthcare registration (e.g., Certified Healthcare Access Associate - CHAA) is a plus but not required.
