Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Phlebotomist II to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws, handling specimens with care, and ensuring accurate documentation and processing in compliance with established protocols. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform venipunctures and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal samples) using straight and butterfly needles with proficiency and precision.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens according to established procedures and test orders
  • Explain the specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, verifying accuracy to prevent errors.
  • Check test requisitions or computer labels against physician orders to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens securely for transport, maintaining the integrity of samples as per protocol.
  • Store specimens at required temperatures and in appropriate collection containers or tubes.
  • Update and maintain patient information accurately in the system.
  • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures to uphold safety and hygiene standards.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Phlebotomist.
  • Proficient in using straight and butterfly needles and handling color-coded tubes.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with blood draws and venipunctures.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient care standards.

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of laboratory protocols and specimen handling procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
