We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapy programs to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities due to injury, illness, or disability. The role involves working closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct thorough evaluations to assess patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
Review medical histories and collaborate with other healthcare providers to gain a comprehensive understanding of patient needs.
Set measurable goals for therapy in collaboration with patients and their families.
Therapy Plan Development:
Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the needs of each patient, addressing specific functional limitations and life challenges.
Educate patients on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive devices that will help them regain independence in daily tasks.
Modify treatment plans as needed based on patient progress and feedback.
Treatment Implementation:
Administer therapeutic activities and interventions to patients based on their treatment plan.
Assist patients in learning or relearning skills needed for daily living activities (e.g., dressing, cooking, bathing, and mobility).
Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment to enhance their independence and quality of life.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate care.
Document patient progress and update treatment plans in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of patient evaluations, goals, progress, and outcomes.
Patient and Family Education:
Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families, guiding them through the rehabilitation process.
Offer advice on home modifications and environmental adaptations to enhance patients' safety and independence at home.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Licensure:
Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in good standing.
Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a clinical or rehabilitation setting.
Experience with pediatric, geriatric, or neurological populations is preferred depending on the setting.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, interventions, and adaptive equipment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Strong assessment and documentation skills.
Compassionate and patient-focused with a commitment to improving patients' quality of life.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specific patient populations (e.g., orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, geriatrics).
Knowledge of therapy-related software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Certification in specialized areas (e.g., hand therapy, sensory integration) is a plus.
