The Radiation Therapy Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care to radiation therapy patients, assisting physicians during consultations and follow-ups, educating patients and families, handling scheduling and prescription coordination, and obtaining pre-authorizations for treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist physicians with consultations, follow-ups, and patient care.
Assess new patients and provide education regarding treatment and care plans.
Handle front desk duties, including phone calls, appointment scheduling, and patient inquiries.
Coordinate prescription refills and communicate with pharmacies.
Obtain pre-authorizations for radiation therapy treatments and CT simulations.
Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and necessary documentation.
Demonstrate knowledge of patient care across different age groups and medical needs.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure: Active TN RN license or TN-approved compact license.
Certification:
OCN registry required (must obtain within 24 months if eligible).
BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
Experience:
Minimum of one year of radiation oncology experience preferred.

Work Environment
Exposure to temperature variations, varying lighting conditions, and background equipment noise.
Work around hazardous materials (radiation, chemotherapy agents, etc.) with MSDS guidelines available.
Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
