The Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature newborns in collaboration with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The RN delivers evidence-based, compassionate care in accordance with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Professional Nursing Practice, focusing on assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to support optimal outcomes for neonatal patients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Educate and support families regarding neonatal care and discharge planning.
Administer medications, treatments, and specialized therapies as prescribed.
Monitor vital signs, oxygenation, and clinical status, intervening as necessary.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately in the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system.
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and clinical quality standards.
Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State.
Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN) from an accredited program.
Minimum 1–2 years of recent NICU experience preferred.
Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system – Required.
Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Must be available to work 36 hours per week, nights only (no variations).
COVID-19 vaccination required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Prior experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU setting.
Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required.
