The Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical unit is responsible for evaluating and monitoring patient progress, identifying changes in medical conditions, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role requires vigilance, strong clinical skills, and effective communication with patients, families, and the medical team.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and monitor patients’ progress throughout their care.
Identify sudden or subtle changes in patient medical conditions promptly.
Provide regular updates to physicians, patients, and family members.
Initiate treatments and monitor medication doses.
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and alert the necessary healthcare providers.
Complete all necessary documentation prior to patient transfers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Develop and implement individualized, effective care plans.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in med-surg/telemetry settings.
Experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
COVID-19 vaccination required.
Current RN license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
