The Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently moving patients throughout the healthcare facility while providing compassionate support and assistance. This role ensures patients receive high-quality care during transport and may assist with basic daily activities, vital signs monitoring, and communication with nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
Provide excellent patient care and support during transport
Respond to patient calls and determine appropriate assistance
Assist patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, toileting, walking, and exercising
Turn and reposition bedridden patients to maintain comfort and prevent complications
Ensure patients receive appropriate diets by reviewing dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences
Obtain and relay information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses regarding patient conditions and treatment plans
Measure and record food and liquid intake, as well as urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical staff
Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested
Observe and report patient conditions, including wounds, bruises, or other medical concerns
Remind patients to take medications and nutritional supplements as directed
Document patient behavior, complaints, and symptoms for nursing staff review
Stay current with CNA training and adhere to facility policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in patient care or healthcare support role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting, transferring, and repositioning patients
Knowledge of basic patient care practices and safety standards
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training or equivalent experience
Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility
