Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Technician will perform a variety of venipuncture techniques to collect and process blood specimens from patients. The role also involves maintaining lab records, ensuring sanitation standards are met, and providing guidance and training to new employees and interns. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and accurate documentation of all procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Venipuncture and Specimen Collection
- Perform a variety of venipuncture techniques to collect blood specimens from patients.
- Ensure blood specimens are collected and processed accurately using the Epic system.
- Recordkeeping and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory supplies and inventory levels.
- Ensure that all required supplies are available for specimen collection and processing.
- Sanitation and Safety Standards
- Maintain sanitation standards in the laboratory to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to specimen handling and lab processes.
- Training and Guidance
- Provide guidance and training to new employees and interns on laboratory procedures and best practices.
- Assist in fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Epic system for blood specimen processing is a plus.
Licensure/Certification:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- COVID-19 vaccination + booster required.
Education: Associate's Degree
Certification: Basic Life Support
