We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse – Infusion Oncology to provide culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care in a clinical setting. This role supports the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values, and strategic plan. The position may involve variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call hours, with responsibilities that may include floating to various units based on organizational needs and clinical competency.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient care
Perform patient assessments, care planning, interventions, and evaluations
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice acts
Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation in compliance with system and entity standards
Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient care plans as prescribed by physicians and hospital policy
Provide patient and family education tailored to their level of understanding
Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance initiatives
Offer clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of longitudinal patient care plans
Manage complex situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command
Positively influence the professional and organizational environment through collaboration and shared governance
Engage in personal and professional development, including evidence-based practice guideline development or revision
Support and participate in peer review and peer feedback opportunities
Maintain timely patient flow in clinic and ambulatory settings, respond to patient calls, and perform telephone triage
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
Strong clinical competency in oncology and infusion therapy
Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
Prior experience in oncology or infusion nursing
Familiarity with shared governance and performance improvement initiatives
Certifications (if any)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
Oncology Nursing Certification (preferred)
Education: Associate's Degree
