The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in medication preparation, labeling, and distribution activities. This role performs a broad range of technical support functions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, ensuring safe and accurate handling of medications to optimize patient drug therapy.
Key Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing.
Perform technical support functions including inventory management and documentation.
Support sterile compounding and medication packaging processes.
Handle and store medications in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications.
Participate in ongoing training and adhere to departmental policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current, unencumbered Certified state Pharmacy Technician License (required upon submission).
Successful completion of a Medical Pharmacy Technician course (preferred).
Pre-employment drug screen required.
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
Prior hospital pharmacy experience.
Sterile compounding experience.
Certifications (if any)
Certified state Pharmacy Technician License – required.
