The Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient care. This role includes preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, managing medical equipment and lab samples, and maintaining accurate electronic health records. The Medical Assistant I also supports patient education and contributes to a respectful, compassionate care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients, take vitals (e.g., blood pressure, temperature), collect patient histories, and prepare patients for examinations.
Assist providers during examinations and authorized medical procedures, including administering injections and performing skin tests where permitted.
Sterilize medical instruments and equipment and collect or process lab specimens.
Manage electronic health records (EHR), schedule appointments, and verify patient information.
Provide patient education regarding preparation instructions and ensure a respectful, supportive care environment.
Required Qualifications
Completion of a medical assistant program.
Strong communication, clinical, and organizational skills.
Certifications
Medical Assistant certification (often required, especially when administering medications).
