The Registered Nurse – Catheterization Laboratory provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role requires advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care before, during, and after catheterization procedures
Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures including angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies
Monitor patients’ vital signs and hemodynamic status throughout procedures
Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed
Prepare patients and families by explaining procedures, risks, and post-procedure care
Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper functioning of equipment
Respond promptly to emergencies and assist in resuscitation efforts when required
Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state/region
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a catheterization laboratory or cardiac care unit
Advanced knowledge of cardiac procedures and patient monitoring systems
Certifications (if any)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required)
Specialty certification in cardiovascular nursing (preferred)
