The Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care in a Surgical Oncology unit, managing patients with complex oncological and post-surgical conditions. Working under general supervision, the RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, including chemotherapy administration and oncology-specific treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
Monitor patient conditions and intervene as necessary
Administer medications, including chemotherapy as prescribed
Initiate and monitor IV infusions and blood products
Deliver high-quality care in a surgical oncology setting
Communicate care plans effectively with patients and families
Educate patients on treatment plans and procedures
Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
Delegate tasks to support staff appropriately
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Current RN License (Oklahoma or compact state)
Current BLS certification
ACLS (American Heart Association)
Med-Surg and Step Down experience required
Oncology and chemotherapy experience required
ONS/ONCC certification required (Fundamentals may be accepted)
