The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a clinical laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens
Operate and maintain equipment including analyzers, microscopes, and diagnostic instruments
Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure proper handling and storage
Record and analyze data accurately, reporting results to physicians and healthcare providers
Follow safety protocols including infection control and OSHA standards
Assist in quality assurance by calibrating equipment and validating procedures
Support laboratory operations including inventory management, documentation, and compliance
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in hospital or clinical laboratory settings
Familiarity with advanced diagnostic equipment and automation systems
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
Exposure to biological hazards, chemicals, and laboratory equipment
Work in a clinical laboratory environment with strict adherence to safety standards
