JOB SUMMARY
Provide direct patient care and perform technical duties in the operating room environment, assisting surgeons during operative procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
- Arrange and maintain the sterile field.
- Select and prepare the necessary instruments and supplies.
- Assist the surgeon during operative procedures by anticipating needs and providing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and patient anatomy.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
Schedule / Shift
- 4 x 10-hour shifts per week.
- Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Must be certified.
- Experience with direct patient care in an operating room setting.
- Familiarity with surgical procedures and instrumentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team.
Certifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (e.g., CST) is required.
Experience
- Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist.
Skills
- Proficient in sterile technique.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and supplies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
EMR / Systems
- Paper charting and Sorian for ordering.
Patient Population
- Primarily adult and geriatric patients.
- Some pediatric patients.
Unit / Specialty
- Operating Room (OR).
- This role will also involve assisting in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- OR Rooms: 4
- PACU Bays: 3
Floating / On-Call
- Floating expectations may apply between OR and PACU.
