JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. This role involves assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' health status, including physical, psychological, and social needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor vital signs and patient conditions, and take appropriate action.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care.
- Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide life support as needed.
- Advocate for patient needs and ensure quality of care.
Schedule / Shift
Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, weeknights.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or a Multistate License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Med Surg RN.
Experience
- 3+ years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience.
