JOB SUMMARY
The LTAC/Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care through the application of the Nursing Process. This role involves performing assessments, planning interventions, implementing care, and evaluating outcomes, all in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. The Registered Nurse utilizes critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership skills to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery. They are responsible for delegating patient care priorities based on staff education and experience, and for providing direction and supervision to assigned personnel.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in patient care planning and delivery.
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
• Delegate patient care priorities appropriately based on staff capabilities.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel.

Required Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or multi-state RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Telemetry/LTAC experience in a hospital setting.
Certifications
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Experience
• 2 years of recent Telemetry/LTAC experience in a hospital setting.
Skills
• Proficient in the Nursing Process.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective leadership and delegation skills.
• Ability to provide direction and supervision.
EMR / Systems
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is generally expected for this role.
Patient Population
• Typically involves adult and geriatric patients requiring extended recovery periods or management of complex medical conditions.
Unit / Specialty
• Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC)
• Telemetry (Tele)
Floating / On-Call
• Expectation to float between LTAC and Telemetry units as needed.
• On-call requirements may apply as per facility policy.
Education: Bachelors Degree
