Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac and physiological monitoring. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while monitoring cardiac rhythms, identifying changes in patient condition, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate possesses strong cardiac assessment skills, critical thinking abilities, and experience caring for patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, and complex medical conditions in an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Assessment & Care
  2. Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring of patient conditions.
  3. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
  4. Monitor and assess patients with cardiac, respiratory, and other acute medical conditions.
  5. Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
  6. Provide direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established nursing standards.
  7. Telemetry Monitoring
  8. Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry readings.
  9. Identify, document, and report cardiac arrhythmias and abnormal cardiac activity.
  10. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members regarding telemetry findings and patient condition changes.
  11. Ensure telemetry equipment is functioning properly and accurately transmitting patient data.
  12. Respond promptly to telemetry alarms and clinical alerts.
  13. Medication Administration & Treatment
  14. Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
  15. Monitor patient response to medications and treatments.
  16. Perform clinical procedures within the scope of nursing practice.
  17. Ensure safe medication administration practices and accurate documentation.
  18. Care Coordination & Collaboration
  19. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  20. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning discussions.
  21. Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  22. Communicate patient status and care plans effectively to healthcare team members.
  23. Patient & Family Education
  24. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  25. Promote patient understanding of disease management and lifestyle modifications.
  26. Provide emotional support and guidance throughout the care process.
  27. Documentation & Compliance
  28. Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  29. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and nursing practice guidelines.
  30. Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
  31. Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Previous acute care nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous Telemetry, Cardiac Step-Down, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical, or Critical Care experience.
  • Experience interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing telemetry patients.
  • Experience caring for cardiovascular and medically complex patient populations.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based cardiac and telemetry nursing practices.

Certifications (If Any)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License – Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification – Required or Preferred per facility policy
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Preferred
  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) – Preferred
  • Additional cardiac, telemetry, or specialty nursing certifications are a plus.

Note- Travel Experience Required



Education: Bachelors Degree

Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiac Life Support
