The Certified Wound Care Nurse provides specialized care to patients with ostomies, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers, and acute or chronic wounds. This role involves comprehensive assessment, planning, and implementation of wound and ostomy care, while educating patients and families on treatment, supplies, and equipment for optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and plan wound care for patients with complex conditions
Implement treatment protocols for acute and chronic wounds
Educate patients and families on wound and ostomy management, supplies, and equipment
Provide ostomy care including evaluation, selection, and recommendation of supplies
Maintain documentation of patient care and progress
Required Qualifications
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Wound Care Certification
Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Prior experience in wound care or ostomy nursing
