Job Summary

The EEG Technologist is responsible for performing electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, preparing patients and equipment, acquiring high-quality physiological data, and maintaining accurate documentation. The technologist will work closely with physicians and clinical teams to support diagnostic testing while following established clinical, safety, infection-control, and patient-care procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized EEG procedures according to established clinical protocols.

• Prepare patients for EEG testing, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and cooperation throughout the examination.

• Apply EEG electrodes accurately and maintain proper electrode placement and signal quality.

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot EEG equipment and related systems during testing.

• Monitor EEG recordings for technical quality and identify artifacts or abnormalities requiring attention.

• Perform appropriate activation procedures as required by clinical protocols.

• Maintain accurate patient records, test documentation, and EEG reports.

• Follow patient identification, safety, infection-control, and equipment-maintenance procedures.

• Communicate relevant technical observations and testing information to physicians and clinical staff.

• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience performing EEG procedures and operating EEG equipment.

• Knowledge of EEG electrode placement, recording techniques, artifact recognition, and basic troubleshooting.

• Ability to accurately document patient and test information.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality recordings.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, physicians, and clinical teams.

• Ability to follow established clinical protocols, safety procedures, and infection-control standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing routine and specialized EEG studies.

• Experience in a hospital, neurological, or clinical diagnostic setting.

• Familiarity with digital EEG systems and computerized EEG recording platforms.

Certifications

• Relevant EEG Technologist certification or registration, if required by the employer or applicable jurisdiction.
